Creights

The following playing cards are some of the cards that were designed for a customized version of the Creights card game by Paul Thomas.

Creights is a variant of Crazy Eights that was described in 1984 in the magazine "Games". Many other variants of Crazy Eights use similar rules and have been around for many years. These games go by names such as Crates, Cr8s, Uno, Switch, and many others. Creights is a game that involves more luck than skill and is well suited to people who like the personal interaction associated with playing card games but aren't interested in games that require a high degree of skill and lots of concentration.

The Creights game assigns different behaviors to different cards in a manner similar to Uno. The "4" cards cause the next person to skip a turn, "5"s and "7"s cause people to draw extra cards, "10"s reverse the direction of play, etc. The difficulty in remembering what each card is supposed to do makes it a confusing game to learn even though the game is easy to play once you know what each card does.

Paul has simplified the learning process tremendously by labeling each card with its function and point value and has also extended the rules with face cards that cause play to skip to the person whose picture appears on the card.
